ABCD

I made the comment on Twitter, and I'm going to do it here, I'm going to start trying to take a picture of every letter of the alphabet. It's sure to be tricky, but I plan on doing it, bit by bit. Here's ABCD.

Gold Mine Release Party

I recently had the opportunity to photograph the release party for the first board game of a new board game company. The company is Stratus Games, and their game is called Gold Mine
It's a fun game where you get to build mines, collect gold, and escape. It's really cool. Anyways, I'd recommend you look into it, ask your specialty game store for the game in your local cities. It's available now only in select locations in Tucson, AZ, but it will be available soon everywhere.

Anyways, here's some pictures from the event.

Android

So, recently I've entered the world of Android phones, and I've decided something. I want to learn how to program a smart phone. I know a fair amount about programming in general, and I really want to learn more, so it's about time...

So, my first Android program is going to help me with my photography, hence the reason I'm posting on this form to begin with. It's going to start as a photo viewer for my website. I have a list of features I plan on adding, which I'm going to keep quiet for a while, but I'll say for now that my program will be geared towards a professional or serious amateur showing off a portfolio on their phone, and related tasks.

So far, I've almost figured out how to do my first real task, which is loading and displaying an image from the web. Once I've got that figured out, it's only talking to the SmugMug API and putting a slightly more complex interface, something that should be easy. Hopefully I'll have something to share soon, but for now, keep watching for more;-)

Lightning

I look forward to July and August every year because of the "Monsoon" season, the time of year that it rains in Arizona alot. In particular, I look forward to the opportunity to take pictures of lightning.

I've tried 3 times this year to get a decent lightning shot, without getting even one shot... Finally, I was able to capture some, and not just any shot, but perhaps the best I've ever taken. I wish I could clean up the noise a bit on this image, but still, I'm quite happy with them.

Sabino Canyon

I'm trying to visit more of the spots in Tucson, especially now that I have a national parks pass. Yesterday took me to Sabino Canyon. Here's a few of my favorite shots from there.

My absolute favorite pictures from the trip.

Here's my favorite pictures from the trip, the ones I've chosen as my daily pictures to put in retrospectively. For those who don't know, I try to take a picture every day and pick my favorite, and post it up for review in the Smugmug Daily Photo group. It's helped me out tons, and I've really enjoyed it. I've had various levels of success, from initially actually taking a picture almost every day, to now at least posting a recent favorite. Anyways, here's the favorites.

Zion National Park

This is actually the final installation of pictures from my national park tour, from Zion National Park in southern Utah. I think this was the most impressive area I visited on the trip, it's an amazingly beautiful area. Pictures can only capture so much of this beauty, but here goes.
